You are right and I know this.  But if you program an application,
which should work on the Unix/Linux side (for example a filemanager
or something similar), you have to pay attention to this files on
your own.  The same holds true for thumbnail images usually stored
in a .xvpics subdirectory.

All current filemanagers on Linux (KDE kfm, Gnome gmc) are flawed 
in this respect.

P.S.: I'm not going to write a GUI file manager in Python and using
shutil right now.  So this discussion is somewhat academic.
