If you're reading a story and find a passage that particularly resonates with you, you can highlight it. When your followers read the story, they will see your highlight, and your name will pop up above it.
Highlight a passage
- Select the passage you want to highlight.
- Click the highlighter icon.
- Tap the passage you want to highlight.
- Tap Highlight.
- Tap the passage you want to highlight.
- Tap Highlight.
Remove a highlight
Directly from the story page:
- Click on the highlight you want to remove.
- Click the highlighter icon.
From your profile page:
- Go to your profile page.
- Switch the tab to Highlights.
- Click the down arrow under the highlight you want to remove.
- Click Unhighlight.
- Tap on the highlight you want to remove.
- Tap Highlight in the pop-up.
- Tap on the highlight you want to remove.
- Tap Highlighted in the pop-up at the bottom.
Privacy
- Passages you highlight are visible to your followers and to the author of the story on the story page.
- All your highlighted passages are publicly visible in the Highlights tab on your profile page.
Text shots
If you connected your Twitter account with Medium, you can share your highlighted passage as an image on Twitter.
- Click on the highlighted passage.
- Click the Twitter icon from the pop-up toolbar.
- Tap on the highlighted passage.
- Tap Share.
Note: Text shots are not supported on Android.
