The FOSSDI SDIC is a community of various sectors and
organization/institutions. The Free/Open Source Software for
Geoinformatics (FOSS4G) products used within this community is as
manifold as the general GIS community. Interestingly also proprietary
vendors of GIS related products and services start to integrate the
benefits of FOSS4G products.
The FOSSDI SDIC itself, besides developing software and spatial data,
is also providing services to public administration and private
companies.

This site is dedicated to the issue of public access to government
geospatial data across Canada. It is a place to discuss, issues, educate,
coordinate and encourage change. Promotes the idea of free distribution of
canadian governmental geographic data. Free in this case basically means at
no charge though more comments are being made on the importance of "liberty"
as well as "no charge".

This efford tries to digitize the streets of Oslo, Norway
with GPSs to offer it as Free Geographic Information
(planned is GPL as license). The map shows the lines
logged by volunteers (each one will have his own color)
underlayed with a proprietary map.

This project produces an Extension and VBA module that allows ESRIs ArcMap (v8.x) product to access Open Source Postgresql/PostGIS spatial data tables. Includes importing tables and exporting/updating back to the database.

to map the world (or at least parts of it).
The result will be free, digital thematic maps
