Biography: 

Lia is responsible for the creative direction of the Internet's Society content. She works together with Internet Society staff and Chapters to tell stories of what an open Internet can bring to the lives of people around the world.

She joined the Internet Society after an extensive career as a national radio and print journalist, documentary filmmaker, and communication & marketing specialist for various Canadian based and International organizations.

Hailing from Ottawa Ontario Canada, she began her career as a storyteller at 16 where she ran her own monthly magazine. While attending University she was not only on the editorial board of the student paper, she was also a freelance reporter for many national and international publications, freelance documentary filmmaker, weekly host for a community radio show, and an active writer and volunteer for many citizen journalism sites.

After graduating she moved on to work for national radio as a news and documentary reporter as well as producer. She eventually moved into communications and marketing both at the Federal Government and private sector level where she received awards from the International Association of Business Communicators for work in online communications and media relations.

She is passionate about working with people to bring their stories to life. 

Lia graduated with honors from Carleton University's prestigious School of Journalism in Ottawa Ontario Canada. She's also studied online programming at the British Columbia Institute of Technology and is part of the Women's Coding Collective.
