The Commonwealth Telecommunications Organisation is the oldest and largest Commonwealth membership organisation in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Its Strategic Plan for 2012/13 – 2015/16 identifies six priority areas on which it is concentrating its contribution to the use of ICTs for development across the Commonwealth during the plan period. Further information about each theme is available through the links below:
-
Mobile broadband
Creating the infrastructure so that broadband connectivity can be anywhere throughout the commonwealth.

-
Cybersecurity

-
Regulation
Regulatory environments play a crucial role in helping to ensure that markets operate as effectively as possible

-
Commonwealth coordination
The CTO work at international ICT meetings to coordinate Commonwealth contributions to these fora.

What we do
The CTO supports its members in delivering effective ICTs through its three operational divisions: research and consultancy; training and capacity development; and events and conferences. Our work currently focuses on six key areas: regulatory environments, mobile broadband, cybersecurity, youth and ICTs, skills development and entrepreneurship, and ICTs and disability.
