About the RIPE Data Repository

The RIPE Data Repository is a collection of datasets that are useful for scientific and operational Internet research.

The RIPE Data Repository is a large data store (currently ~100TB) that holds a diverse set of data of interest to the scientific and operator community. See the list of data sets for a complete overview of datasets that are hosted.

Data Users

Data users can access the RIPE Data Repository through their web browser and/or automate data downloads with webfetchers like wget or curl. To obtain access to datasets hosted on the RIPE Data Repository users have to have a RIPE NCC Access account and accept the Terms and Conditions for the data sets hosted.

Data Suppliers

If you know a data set that you think is interesting to the RIPE community and in need of a new or additional home please contact us at data-repository-info _at_ ripe _dot_ net.

I would like to see the reverse-delegation (in-addr.arpa) data moved back from behind the registration "wall" into where it belongs: anonymous FTP. All other RIR's in-addr.arpa data is publicly accessible like that - just not RIPE's : what makes RIPE special? This is not personal data, it's not even generated with any effort other than a plain database dump. Most of all: it can't be obtained by an automated process behind the registration "wall" in order to be processed for authorized purposes.
What gives?

I see it available at that ftp URI now, but inexplicably, when I searched for it far and wide in February, could NOT locate it. And I certainly did a "ls -lR" to try to find it. Has something been changed? I recall a symlink pointing to a non-existing location...
