Introducing Deeplinking from GA to AdWords

The AdWords reports in Google Analytics are a treasure trove for AdWords advertisers. Unlike AdWords, GA knows what happened on your website after a user clicked an AdWords ad.

We want to make it easier to take action in AdWords based on insights you generate from the AdWords reports in GA. That’s why we’re excited to launch deeplinking from the AdWords reports in GA to AdWords itself. 

In the AdWords reports in GA, we’ll start showing the AdWords logo next to each Campaign. Clicking the AdWords logo will take you straight to the corresponding Campaign in the AdWords interface - provided that you have access to the AdWords account.

Tracking Customer Lifetime Value in Google Analytics

"In marketing, customer lifetime value (CLV), also referred to as lifetime value (LTV), is a prediction of the value a customer will have over there lifetime with your company or brand. This is often estimate, or averaged, sometimes with complex formulas.

This topic has been thoroughly covered by some excellent posts, and several books,  so I don’t intend to regurgitate what’s already been written. My goal is to introduce another method of tracking CLV with Google Analytics."
Instead of estimating CLV with formulas, record the actual lifetime value of each and every customer with Custom Metrics in Google Analytics.

Bringing Smart Goals to more advertisers

Ever since we launched Smart Goals in December 2015 [http://goo.gl/J6ALGb], we’ve seen tremendous adoption: tens of thousands of advertisers are using Smart Goals to automatically identify their best website visits and optimize to those visits in AdWords.

Over the coming weeks, we’re excited to bring Smart Goals within reach of many more advertisers by expanding the eligibility criteria. 

For smaller advertisers, we’re reducing the threshold for Smart Goals eligibility to 500 website visits from AdWords clicks over 30 days - cutting the requirement in half.

And on the other side of the scale, for larger advertisers, we’re increasing the upper limit for Smart Goals eligibility to 10M website visits over 30 days - effectively a threefold increase.

As a reminder, to start optimizing to Smart Goals in AdWords, you only need to take 3 simple steps: (1) activate Smart Goals in GA, (2) import Smart Goals into AdWords, (3) optimize to Smart Goals in AdWords.
