A passionate believer that technology can and must be harnessed for good, Fernando started his foray into the world of digital networks using local BBSs and, later, the Internet - where he was armed only with 'Hot Dog' HTML Editor and Geocities, in the days of Netscape.
With over a decade of experience, he has worked in all sides of communication, from journalism and media relations to branding and marketing. In the last few years, his main focus has been digital strategies for international organizations, such as WWF and the World Economic Forum. Fernando is a native Portuguese speaker, also fluent in English, Spanish and French and holds an Executive Master of Science in Communications Management from the University of Lugano, Switzerland.
Fernando is currently responsible for developing strategies and processes for member outreach and engagement at the Internet Society. He works closely with different parts of the organization to make sure we bring the right people, to collaborate around the most impacting projects to help us build the Internet as a platform for human development.
