In 2015, the Network Startup Resource Center conducted nearly one hundred field activities in dozens of countries to help advance local network engineering expertise and Internet infrastructure.

Through partnerships with local groups in Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Middle East to deliver technical training courses, provide direct engineering assistance, and fund conference fellowships, NSRC programs brought together thousands of network engineers and Internet developers across the world.

The NSRC team looks forward to working with our many peers and colleagues to connect more people and enrich the global Internet in the coming year ahead.

This past week NSRC instructors Dean Pemberton and Hervey Allen have worked with Indiana University instructor Ron Milford to present the TEIN NOC workshop on network monitoring and management and Software Defined Networking in cooperation with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) and intERLab. The workshop included 34 students from 19 TEIN member countries from around Asia and the Pacific. For more details about the workshop see https://nsrc.org/workshops/2015/nsrc-tein-ait-noc/ and our temporary site at https://wiki.lpnz.org/doku.php?id=2015:nsrc-tein-ait-noc:start

Chris Elliott and Phil Regnauld of NSRC are joined by Ferenc Csorba of RIPE and Misak Khachatryan of GNC-Alfa CJSC to teach a 5 day hands-on workshop on Network Management and Monitoring best practices and tools. 22 participants from Armenia were present here in Yerevan, Armenia. We had a very fast class this week, and some very interesting discussions during the workshop. Congratulations to everyone!

Thanks to O'Reilly for providing books to the participants. We look forward to more events in partnership with RIPE NCC.

The NSRC finished 2014 with a series of successful network trainings and engineering activities. Our success was only made possible by the collaborators, sponsors and trainers around the world that we count as friends.

As trainers we meet enthusiastic engineers who know what they want to build and want the technical skills to match their vision. NSRC and APNIC trainers met with engineers from various island nations and continents for the PACNOG15 technical workshops in Port Villa, Vanuatu, in July of 2014.

The NSRC cultivates collaboration among a community of peers to build and improve a global Internet that benefits all parties. We facilitate the growth of sustainable Internet infrastructure via technical training and engineering assistance to enrich the network of networks. Our goal is to connect people.
Introduction

Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC) is a non-profit activity that has worked since the late 1980s to help develop and deploy networking technology in various projects throughout Asia/Pacific, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, the Middle East, and the New Independent States. Partially supported by 0963081 from the US National Science Foundation, the NSRC provides technical and engineering assistance to international networking initiatives building access to the public Internet, especially to academic/research institutions and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The NSRC is based at the University of Oregon, where we work in collaboration with the Route Viewsproject , the Network and Telecommunication Services group, and UO Libraries.
