Jan 12: Thimphu, Bhutan
Utilizing network hardware donated to the Network Startup Resource Center by Facebook, Google and Cisco, the NSRC has assisted several nodes of the Royal University of Bhutan with upgrading their campus network infrastructure over the past six months. The NSRC provided additional core network devices to the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital in Thimphu that were donated by Facebook to help improve medical research and health services in Bhutan.
Nov 16-20: San Carlos, Costa Rica
NSRC staff and collaborators Hervey Allen, José Domínguez, Carlos Armas and other instructors presented five day hands-on technical workshops focused on network monitoring and management and advanced routing. The workshops were part of the larger WALC 2015 event. NSRC Digital Media Specialist Andy Kirkpatrick was on-hand to document the event and interview participants, organizers and instructors. Oct 23-25: Palo Alto, California
Steve Huter participated in the People-Centered Internet Conference hosted by Vint Cerf and Mei Lin Fung of Digital Dividends for All. Discussions at the Stanford University campus ranged from health care to building network infrastructure to information discovery. Bitange Ndemo, an associate professor at University of Nairobi’s Business School wrote a follow-up article titled "Towards a people-centred Internet in Africa" for Business Daily Africa.
