Welcome to the RIPE NCC LIR PortalNews Consolidation of the LIR Portal user categories 9 February 2015 On Wednesday, 11 February 2015, we will consolidate the LIR Portal user categories. We will inform all LIR Portal Administrators individually so that everyone is aware who has access to their account and how to adjust this, if needed. See the RIPE Labs article for more information on the changes that will happen. Simplifying Contact Management in the LIR Portal 30 January 2015 We are planning to simplify the way users manage their contact information in the LIR Portal. This will involve changes that portal users will need to be aware of. See the RIPE Labs article for details on how we plan to make these improvements. LIR Portal Improvements - Managing Contacts 17 October 2014 We've made improvements to the contact management interface in the LIR Portal. You can now add and manage user accounts for your registry more easily on the Manage Users page in the My LIR section of the portal. Previously, administrators added user accounts on the Add User page of the LIR Portal. The Add User page has been removed and all user management functionality can now be carried out on the Manage Users page. This change is part of a wider RIPE NCC effort to improve usability for our members and make our processes more intuitive and easier to understand. We'll keep our members updated on any further changes implemented in the LIR Portal. RIPE NCC General Meeting November 2015 30 September 2014 You can now register to attend and vote at the RIPE NCC General Meeting on 5 November 2015. Once you login, go to the GM Preferences section in the My LIR section of the portal. From here you can register to attend and choose to vote by paper ballot or electronically. Draft Activity Plan and Budget 2015 30 September 2014 The RIPE NCC and its Executive Board has published the Draft Activity Plan and Budget 2015. We hope you'll take the time to read the document and give us your feedback. Discussion will take place at the RIPE NCC General Meeting on 5 November 2014. Apply for a RIPE Atlas anchor via LIR Portal 19 November 2013 It is now possible to apply for a RIPE Atlas anchor. RIPE Atlas anchors are both enhanced RIPE Atlas probes with more measurement capacity, as well as regional measurement targets within the greater RIPE Atlas network. Organisations hosting a RIPE Atlas anchor benefit from regional "anchoring" measurements that give insight into their reachability from the other anchors and hundreds of probes in the RIPE Atlas network. Find out more in this RIPE Labs article. We're Moving to Digital Invoicing 25 October 2013 From 1 January 2014, all members outside the Russia/ENOG region will receive their invoice digitally. If you wish to continue to receive a hard copy of your invoice, please edit your preferences in the Billing Details section of the LIR Portal. Draft RIPE NCC Activity Plan and Budget 2014 17 September 2013 The RIPE NCC and its Executive Board has published the Draft Activity Plan and Budget 2014. We hope you'll take the time to read the document and give us your feedback. Discussion will take place at the RIPE NCC General Meeting on 16 October 2013. Results of the RIPE NCC Survey 2013 16 September 2013 The Oxford Internet Institute (OII) report on the RIPE NCC Survey 2013 is now available. The report contains all statistical date on responses and the open comments on all questions. Improvements to IP Analyser Free Space Selector 25 February 2013 In the IP Analyser, you can now ask for a free space suggestion from all allocations or a specific one. Results will be grouped together by exact matches and results from larger ranges. IP Analyser now displays notifications in LIR Portal menu 18 February 2013 You no longer have to actively visit the IP Analyser in order to see if you have invalid assignments that require your attention, because there are now active notifications in the LIR Portal menu. If you have invalids, an orange bubble will appear next to the IP Analyser menu item showing the number of items. RIPE Atlas via the LIR Portal 17 January 2012 RIPE NCC members can now access RIPE Atlas, including features available only to RIPE NCC members, via the LIR Portal at lirportal.ripe.net/home/atlas. Members-only features include: testing your IPv6 reachability, claiming 1,000,000 "credits" that can be used to conduct your own customised measurements employing the entire RIPE Atlas network, and a streamlined process when applying for your own RIPE Atlas probe. IP Analyser Production Launch 17 October 2012 The IP Analyser in the LIR Portal is now a production service and allows LIRs to get the following information:
The IP Analyser offers several key advantages:
In this release, we only implement full IPv4 support. This means that the IP Analyser will not offer IPv6 functionality for the time being. Work on integrating IPv6 functionality and other features will continue in 2013. In the meantime, we are eager to hear which features you would like to see in the user interface and API so we can continue to improve this service. Please provide feedback by sending a message to [email protected], or by clicking the Feedback button on the right hand side of the LIR Portal pages. LIR Portal API Enhancements 20 September 2012 We have released an update to the API for the IP Analyser in the LIR Portal. This means the following is now available: The My Resources API: Access all registry information about your resources in JSON or XML format, including ASNs, IPv4 and IPv6 allocations, Assignment Window history, PI assignments, Legacy space, etc. The IP Analyser API: Access all information about your IPv4 assignments, available free space and invalid assignments that require your attention, in JSON or plain text format. The plain text output uses the same formatting as the asused tool, that many of you are familiar with. It also means that you no longer need to contact NCC Registration Services if you would like to have an overview of your invalid assignments. Before we make this a production service, we would really appreciate your input on this functionality; especially on the new JSON format for the IP Analyser. If there is anything missing or you would like to have changed, we can take it along in our planning and roadmap. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be expanding the IP Analyser UI, and add more IPv6 information. You can find the documentation for these, and all other APIs we offer at http://ripe.net/developers. Please provide feedback by sending a message to [email protected], or by clicking the Feedback button on the right hand side of the LIR Portal pages. RIPE NCC Begins to Allocate IPv4 Address Space From the Last /8 14 September 2012 On Friday 14 September, 2012, the RIPE NCC distributed the last blocks of IPv4 address space from the available pool. This means that we are now distributing IPv4 address space to Local Internet Registries (LIRs) from the last /8 according to section 5.6 of "IPv4 Address Allocation and Assignment Policies for the RIPE NCC Service Region". This section states that an LIR may receive one /22 allocation (1,024 IPv4 addresses), even if they can justify a larger allocation. This /22 allocation will only be made to LIRs if they have already received an IPv6 allocation from an upstream LIR or the RIPE NCC. No new IPv4 Provider Independent (PI) space will be assigned. For more information about this please see: https://www.ripe.net/internet-coordination/news/ripe-ncc-begins-to-allocate-ipv4-address-space-from-the-last-8 The LIR Portal API 22 August 2012 The LIR Portal now offers an API, allowing you to fetch your (private) LIR Portal data locally without having to enter user credentials. To enable this functionality, log into the LIR Portal with administrator credentials and select the "API Access Keys" item in the Tools menu. After creating a key for the "My Resources" and "IP Analyser" API, you can fetch LIR Portal data such as your allocations, assignments, assignment window history, free address space and invalid assignments over HTTPS. You can read more about it on our developer documentation page. Please provide feedback by clicking the Feedback button in the LIR Portal. Measuring Your IPv6 Connectivity with RIPE Atlas 20 July 2012 Test the reachability of your IPv6 site from more than 600 RIPE Atlas probes, and receive graphical analysis of the paths between your site and the world! Updated Authentication for the LIR Portal The LIR Portal offers two authentication methods: entering a combination of email and password, or using an X.509 PKI certificate which is installed in your web browser. The latter functionality has been updated and is now known as "Identity Certificate Login". If you were using this authentication method before, you will need to generate a new certificate. For details, please refer to this article on RIPE Labs. Manage your communication preferences In response to feedback from members, you can now decide for yourself whether you would like to receive a printed copy of the Annual Report. Secure your routing using Resource Certification Resource Certification is a global effort to make Internet routing more secure. It is initially aimed at preventing (accidental) mis-annoucements of routes. 2007-01: Phase Two Completed Phase Two of the policy implementation "Contractual Requirements for Provider Independent Resource Holders in the RIPE NCC Service Region" (2007-01) is now closed. This means you can no longer upload the required documentation through the LIR Portal. We are continuously working on the software behind the LIR Portal requiring regular updates to our systems. To minimise the inconvenience we have decided to use the following regular maintenance interval for these updates: Wednesdays 16:00 UTC - 19:00 UTC Of course we will try to limit downtime as much as possible. The LIR Portal lets you manage your registry data and make queries and
updates.
(All information exchanged is encrypted to ensure security.) The RIPE NCC Member Update is a useful way to stay up-to-date with the latest RIPE and RIPE NCC developments, issues and policies. |
