Is it not possible to link multiple developer accounts to a single Application?
I created a new application under my account, but it seems 'locked' to that account. No way to add more developers to have access to it?
Similarly, is there a process in place for actually transferring ownership, in the case that someone would leave a company and yet the twitter API application was registered to their account?
(Or in the end, is it better to just register the API Application with a 'corporate' account - Which has the drawback of requiring developers to have access to the corporate account in order to tweak the API settings)

There is indeed no way to associate multiple developers with a single application record at this time.
It is possible to safely transfer an existing application to another user account by emailing api@twitter.com from the email address belonging to the current owner account of the app. In that email, detail the target @screenname that you want to take ownership. It'll be handled by our API policy team within a day or two.
Definitely recommend using a corporate account for app registrations, but not necessarily the same account your corporation would tweet from.
So you'd reccomend just making a separate otherwise 'dead' account? "@MyCorporateAPIaccount" ... It won't ever be potentially pruned for never making a tweet in it's lifetime?
Many signs of activity on an account from our perspective -- tweeting is just one of them. If an account owns an active application, it will most likely be considered "active" should any determination ever be required.
