irc.synchro.net

irc.synchro.net is an Internet Relay Chat network of Synchronet BBSes running the Synchronet IRC Service (Cyan's ircd.js).

Among other things, it is the home of the Synchronet support IRC channel, #synchronet.

irc.synchro.net is actually a revolving hostname which resolves to one of the (currently 32) IRC services in the network. These services are usually listening for IRC client connections on TCP port 6667, potentially in addition to other TCP ports.

TLS

A client attempting a secure (TLS) IRC connection (i.e. on TCP port 6697) will fail to validate the certificate for irc.synchro.net since the actual host connected will be picked at random and none of which will have a valid TLS certificate for irc.synchro.net.

If you wish to connect using IRC over TLS, use an explicit IRC server hostname, e.g. cvs.synchro.net, nix.synchro.net, or irc.endofthelinebbs.com instead.

Banned or AKILLed

If you find that you have been banned from the network, you may have accidentally been caught up when removing a bot infestation. If you receive a message that you have been banned or akilled when logging into one of the Synchronet IRC servers please email sysop@endofthelinebbs.com or netmail sysop@1:124/5016 with the subjected of “IRC BANNED” and the following details:

  • Username
  • Time and date the issue happened (include timezone)
  • Your IP address and/or hostname
  • Any message you received from the IRC server

Without all those details, we cannot investigate.
