The FDO Forum sees it as one of its major tasks to organise regular conferences (1 to 2 years) to regularly bring the FDO community, which consists of a wide spectrum of data scientists, data stewards, data infrastructure builders, data application developers, and data policy experts.
- The first FDO conference was held in October 2022 in Leiden with as major goal to bring together the interested community to interact about FDOs, to find a common understanding and to discuss first specifications and applications.
- The second FDO conference was held in March 2024 in Berlin with the focus on the FDO specifications and the increasing number of implementations applications. The conference showed that many teams are working in isolation. A summary statement about the summit can be found here.
- The third FDO conference will be hold from 25. to 27. 3. 2026 at the TU Wien in Austria. The Save the Date announcement and the call for papers can be found on the conference page.
A further FDO conference could be organised in Africa demonstrating the international FDO Testbed.
